Day skipper

Day Skipper is a popular course and is the best course for those new to boating. It is an introductory course for all members of the family or crew, and applies to a wide range of vessels – including yachts, launches, powerboats, jet skis, sea kayaks, and waka.

The course covers boat handling, safety equipment, navigation, tides, weather, rules and regulations, emergencies, and knots – it is a broad course outlining the whole boating experience.

NZQA unit standard 26542 is available.

  • This is a classroom based theory course, with no dress code requirements.
  • This is a theory course and is not weather dependent.
  • The next course starts Tuesday 17th July and runs for three weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.00pm till 9.00pm. (17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, 31st July and 2nd August). Please contact us to express interest.
