Learn to SUP

SUP is the world’s fastest growing water sport. It is great for fitness and couldn’t be easier to get in to. The best way to get into the sport is through our 1hr learn to Stand up paddleboard course. Everything you need is provided.

We also have an an adaptive seat and outriggers available for people with disabilities. Please contact us in advance if you’d like to take advantage of this equipment.

  • Topics covered include:

    • Safety considerations
    • The stand up and stance
    • Paddle technique
    • Safe position and turns
    • Destination paddles
  • Sports type clothing and in cooler weather warm layers and a jacket – be prepared to get wet so maybe a change of clothes. a wet Suit is an advantage
  • This course is weather dependent. We will go on-the-water if it is safe to do so, but if it too windy, too wet or too cold, then we might have to cancel or reschedule.
  • Courses are scheduled in the weekends in the morning at 10.00am and in the afternoon at 2.00pm and are subject to weather and demand. Please contact us (ocean@rpnyc.org.nz or 04 939 6702) to express interest.
